História Cherry Trees. (Jotakak MiniFic) - Episode 2

Years passed by, Jotaro a few months away of graduating from college and so was Kakyoin, he was now working with the speedwagon foundation and thanks to them he was able to get the experimental surgery, he still had to use the support to his back, but at least he didn't had to inject himself with medicine anymore, but only take pills and go to monthly check-ups, he was really happy that finally he could do the things he used to do before the accident, after all it's been 7 years since that terrible day, and he was feeling much better, his fears were almost non existing, and that was thanks to the medicine and all he's been trough too, his friend was happy for his improvement as well, but he realized that he was still protective, after all he said he would be like this years ago, but never reall took it as something serious, and about that night, they never talked about it again. Jotaro got married while he was studying, he met a girl and even had a child but, Kakyoin was even more confused by his way to act around him and how really distant he was to his wife, for the same reason, they had a fight, mostly because how irresponsible he was with his family, how he barely seemed to care about his family, that's why they stopped talking, for a month, or two, it was painful seeing each other in college, at least the year was about to end, neither of the two had the guts to apologize, there was nothing left to say than an uncomfortable silence.

The third month, Kakyoin left without a trace, no one knew where he went, no one knew where he actually was, he was so quiet that no one realized that he was gone for about a week, was he missing? Did he got in some kind of trouble? Was he in jail or something? They knew nothing about where he was, but in further investigation, Kakyoin presented a prescription from his psychologist and doctor, he would take a month and a week away for his mental and physical help, since he was going through strangely hard times, it was told that he was out of the country too, but that was only a rumor, he was still in town, and Jotaro wanted some kind of explanation, and even looking for answers, he found nothing, he wasn't at his home, or an hotel, he had to be somewhere, he just didn't knew where, until the news came to his knowledge.

– Jotaro! We have news about Kakyoin! –Shouted a guy that was running to him, a classmate, but he seemed to have a worried look on his eyes.– This morning! He was hit by a car! –He finally said.–

In that moment, he felt his whole world end, and even started getting dizzy and feeling guilty, but that wasn't the moment to freak out, he had to be quick, after all it was actually his fault, that fight, it was because of how irresponsible he was, and that was what actually happened, his live was in danger since he already was fragile.

– Where is he. –Jotaro asked, trying not to look worried, thankfully his hat covered most of his expressions.–

The guy gave him the directions of the hospital he was and once he wrote it down, ignoring any other question or information Jotaro made his way quickly to the hospital, he had no time to loose, and if he had to apologize he was going to do so, he promised to protect him no matter what, and he failed that promise.

He took a taxi to get faster to the hospital, and once he arrived, he paid it and ran to inside the hospital, gladly he got to his room with no major inconvenience and walked in, there he saw Kakyoin unconscious with bandages on his head and arm, and almost by a coincidence, the doctor walked in.

– Oh, you're the first one to come that it's not his parents.–

– Really?.. Huh, I thought someone else would come.. But, that's not important, how's his back doing, he didn't got hurt there, right? – Jotaro immediately asked concerned about his friend's health.–

–Luckily he didn't got hit in that area, we have his medical records and I'm relieved to say that he's alright, but, he didn't had the same luck with his head. As you can see, he hit it pretty badly, same with his arm, he'll be asleep for about two more hours, and then we'll see how he wakes up to, we still need to check him but awake.– The doctor said as he looked through papers.–

– I'll stay here with him, if something happens.– He replied after hearing the doctor's words, while keeping his eyes focused on the monitor of Kakyoin's heart beats.– I'm Jotaro Kujo, friend of Kakyoin Noriaki, if you were interested to know that, or if you see me suspicious in some way.–

– It's alright, they told me you were coming, anyways, if anything happens, you can call for me. –The doctor finally said now walking out of the room and leaving both of them alone.–

Jotaro couldn't help but think that all of that was his own fault, he was sad at looking his now sleeping and wounded face once again, why? Why did that had to happen? He never had to leave him all alone knowing his poor luck, that was the main reason he never really walked away from him, but with such insignificant fight that they had, letting away his promise instead of fighting for him, why did he do that? He wasn't supposed to do that, he was NEVER supposed to do that and yet, he did, filling himself with guilt, he felt like crying in those moments, but didn't wanted to let himself do that, and yet.. Tears started flowing out of his eyes, with a surprised expression of this involuntary action, he touched his cheek to see the tears with now a sad expression, looking back at Kakyoin while the tears kept flowing down his cheeks, why?

Hours passed by, they weren't minutes, it was already getting late, and no one told Jotaro to leave, the sun was almost directly to them, making themselves be seen through the little holes of the curtain, Kakyoin was still sleeping, but it maybe was because of how tired he was, he made him go through a lot, didn't he?

He put his hand on top of Kakyoin's, staring at it while he slowly interlaced his fingers, he thought to himself, it was selfish of him all what he did, having a kid irresponsibly, getting married out of forgetting the past, he wanted to overcome it, all that happened, he knew it was wrong, he knew what he thought was disgusting in the eyes of everyone and mostly Kakyoin.

– I'm so stupid.. –Jotaro mumbled to himself as he carefully put his head on top of their hands.– 

At least, with that touch, he could still feel his friend's life overflow within his body.

"We don't talk about this"

Words that were still roaming within his mind, hurtfully piercing every enjoyable memory, he was such a fool believing someone like him would even love him, but that was his insecurity talking after all.

– You're always caring about something else than your family, Jotaro for fuck sakes what are you thinking!? You're hurting them! – Kakyoin shouted, he was really angry this one time, and normally he never got angry at Jotaro, for anything, this time it was something completely different.–

– I don't understand why you care so much.. And you know perfectly well how busy I really am. –Jotaro excused himself with those worda, turning around with unknowable papers on his hands.– You know perfectly well that I want to protect them at all costs, I.. I can't be close to them, something will happen, and that'll hurt them, Kakyoin, before you say something, I caught a pattern, Stand users attract other stand users, they are not stand users, I can't let myself risk their lifes.–

– Did you actually forgot how strong is Star Platinum? You haven't used him in years, I'm pretty sure he's weak by now! Jotaro, you simply don't understand how much of a fool you are. – Kakyoin said, simply turning around and taking his jacket and glasses.– That's why.. –He turned around.– I'm out. –

Such a fresh memory, from only months ago, the day words ruined his entire life, when he realized his doing, all of what he did was entirely wrong, such foolish actions of him, made his family and the most important person in his entire world walk away from him, those actions.. Made his entire world pay for them, was he so stupid? He actually was, even if he matured enough, it was irresponsible of him having a family when it was risky to do so, but believing everything was now normal.. It was stupid of him.

– Kakyoin.. I'm so sorry. I know you hate me more than everything now and I.. I would hate myself too, after all I did.. I only wanted to protect you, protect them, it's my fault that you're like this now, I wasn't there to protect you when you needed it so much, I was so fucking busy in stupid things that I-

– Jotaro.. – A voice called, and he suddenly felt a hand on his head.– I-Is this what people actually call "timing"?–

– Kakyoin.. – Jotaro raised his head with his cheeks wet and so the tears finally stopped flowing.– You.. You heard all I said? – He asked embarrassed.–

– Yes, but you're so stupid. – He replied, grabbing Jotaro's hat and taking it off, leaving it besides him and caressing his friend's hair.–

– I.. I guess I am. –Jotaro smiled softly, looking at his friend in the eyes, letting a gasp get out of his mouth before the tears started flowing again.– Shit..

– You don't have to pretend in front of me, you know? I won't judge you, if that's what's actually bugging you, I've seen you before, I know how you really are, so don't worry. –He slipped his hand down, now on one of Jotaro's cheek to wipe away gently some of the tears.– You can cry around me.–

Jotaro gently rested his head on Kakyoin's lap as he quietly cried, why? Why did it had to be him? Of all people, who really managed to keep him like that was him, around him he didn't felt fear, sadness or any kind of worries, he managed to keep him calmed, he fooled himself thinking that forgetting about him and getting the less annoying woman he could find would make it, but he was stupid doing something so irresponsible like even having a kid, not that he didn't cared about them, he actually did, that's why he tried to protect them too, but never really had feelings towards that one woman, he thought, for a few moments, that those weirds feelings would just go away if he did something like this, but, they never really left, they're still there, and beating harder than never.

"Will I be able to finally tell you? One day? Without worries, fear..? Kakyoin.. When will I make it?" 

After all that happened, a week passed, Jotaro was in his finals, Kakyoin as well, so both of them spent most of his time together doing their thesis and studying for finals exams, gladly it was something they both enjoyed a lot, by influence of Jotaro, they were both graduating to be marine biologist, even if they specialized in different areas, at least it was the same enjoyable job. None of them regretted anything, nothing at all, it was almost like Egypt, none of them regretted the journey, maybe bad things happened in the way, but for them to happen good things came after that, and that was all that counted, now, was it fate?

Jotaro tried his best to visit his ex wife and daughter, he even tried to get things better between them, clearly not wanting anything else than friendship, some people tend to misunderstand, everyone thought they were getting back together, but Jotaro felt no attraction to woman at all, nor men, it was weird that feeling, only loving one person, not caring his gender or anything, he was still confused, but he was still young after all, so, he still had time to clear his mind, but at least he was clear about something, he would never love anyone else than just Kakyoin, a lot happened for him to just realize that, but he was still confused on the reason why. 

Two months passed, they already had the finals exams, but there was a thing left, their thesis, Kakyoin was clearly nervous, practicing everyday in front of Jotaro, who was almost finished doing his one, since he was someone of adding multiple details and facts, which was actually good since he was most dedicated at it, not that Kakyoin wasn't, but his redacting style was different as well, and that was totally understandable.

– Should I add something else? I think is not good enough. –Kakyoin asked to his friend, who was sitting next to him who was adding the last details to his thesis.–

– Believe me, it's alright, I've read it three times now, you'll do good.. I'm done. –Jotaro said this final word with excitement in his voice.– We'll do great, don't worry about it.– 

– Yeah.. Oh, are you still thinking about the doctorate? –Kakyoin asked, putting his thesis on the table as he now looked at his friend.–

– Oh, I'm going to do it, actually, you don't have to follow me, but if you want to do it in me researches, I don't have problems with it.–

– Huh.. Alright then, I'll follow you to wherever you go! – Kakyoin replied.–

And with that, Kakyoin kept his word, it was finally the day of them to present the thesis and luckily they both did great, graduating shortly after this, now with their titles, Jotaro only after a few months of taking a bit of a break, he was going to take the program, but on the other side, Kakyoin found a job at an aquarium as a doctor, he was able to take care of animals and watch them as well, he liked night shifts from the same reason, an empty aquarium, where the only human life is the staff, surrounded by sea life, it was just everything he wanted to see, Jotaro had the same luck, but he was still studying so he wasn't able to see that until he had vacations.

The year was 1998, Kakyoin was really stable on his job, and happy with it of course, meanwhile Jotaro was having the time of his life studying, but luckily, in a few days he was gonna have a short period of time to take a bit of a break, vacation, sort to speak, he had a plan, but first, he had to be secured that everything was going to be alright, from that point on, it's clear to say that Kakyoin and him been living together for about a year now, and actually Jolyne, Jotaro's daughter been visiting them, since he's obligated to spend time with her, not that he doesn't like it, no, she actually likes Kakyoin and spending time with Jotaro, she had her own room, in a house of three, but even so, Jotaro didn't even slept on his own room, just like a teenager he sneaked to Kakyoin's room and slept there with him when he wasn't in night shifts.

Although the question was obvious, he still haven't confessed his feelings to Kakyoin, he was nervous of doing this, what if he rejected him and left? He didn't wanted to sicken him with that sort of stuff, and if it was true, he might never get him at all.

That morning they both woke up almost at the same time, Kakyoin had a busy day, and that's why he got really late last night, but that didn't restrain Jotaro from sleeping in his room, and that was a good thing, they woke up once again besides one another, and this time, Kakyoin had a lot to say.

– Good morning. – Kakyoin said while he looked at the taller one in the eyes.–

– You arrived really late yesterday, did something happened? – Jotaro asked sleepy, while he yawned a little.–

– Actually, yeah, we had an emergency, don't think you want the details, or well, I think you actually do. –He laughed a bit.– One of the beluga whales is pregnant, so I had to check her and write a lot of stuff down, since you like them too, I guess when you're free, we can go see her! –

– Really? Sounds like a good idea. –Jotaro replied with a soft smile while he looked at him with those eyes that can definitely say "I'm in love with you"– But, that doesn't take that long, did something else happen?–

Kakyoin remain silent for a few seconds, thinking if he should talk or not, he was indecisive.

– Kakyoin? –

– There was this new guy.. –He finally talked.– he makes me pretty uncomfortable, since he's a lot of years longer than me, he has a summer job there, since the begging of my shift, since we saw each other, he gives me bad vibes, like he's following me. –

– Might be a stand user! – Jotaro quickly sat on the bed while he looked at him concerned.–

– No! No.. He isn't, I had hierophant out and he didn't even see him, might be a stalker or something, I, I don't know. –He finally said while he scratched his neck a bit.– When I was finishing my shift, he came up to me and asked me if we could get some drinks, yet, he kept insisting, I should have called you, but my mind was blank, He said he was interested in me, and that's when I ran home, luckily, he didn't followed me, I didn't go upstairs immediately, i was in the living room trying to put myself together.. I won't be going today unless it's an emergency, if you're concerned about my safety.– 

– I'm so sorry this happened to you, if I were there, I would have already beat the shit outta him. – Jotaro said, hearing how Kakyoin let go a soft laugh.–

– Jotaro, please! It's not like we were a couple or something, geez, I like that you care about me this much, but you don't have to kick everyone that talks to me that way! –Kakyoin said mid laughing, covering a little his mouth with a noticeable little blush on his cheeks.–

– This.. Has happened before? –The taller one asked.–

– Well, sadly, yes, I don't know what they have with me, is it my hair? My eyes? This waist? – Kakyoin asked to himself as he put one hand on his chin and looked up confused.– 

Sadly, for Jotaro, that and a lot of things were what he loved of him, so in that moment, he felt immediately attacked.

– Well, who knows. –Jotaro replied to those questions, gently grabbing Kakyoin's hair and caressing it softly.– I really like your hair, I still ask myself how you can conserve it so well.– He said as he looked at it with mid closed eyes.–

Kakyoin felt his cheeks burn, but still, he let him to this, he was at peace after all, he knew him for years now, but, what was that one feeling? Eventually they both let out his stands, almost at the same time and immediately Star platinum hugged Hierophant with a huge smile on his face.

– J-Jotaro! –Kakyoin's face was now completely red while the nervousness took over his body.– W-Why?

– I was thinking how to make it easier.. So I let him out to check how Hierophant would react. – He replied almost calmly as he looked at their stands, which were hugging, Star platinum was giving Hierophant kisses on the cheek, and they gave exactly the reaction he was actually expecting.– I'm so relieved.–

– I- I.. I wanted it to be a secret! –Kakyoin was embarrassed, covering his face with both of his hands, still feeling how Jotaro was caressing that part of his hair.–

– Kakyoin.–

– W-What? –

– I feel the same.–

After that situation, about a week later, Jotaro and Kakyoin finally got to be something, it was something that Jotaro desired from years ago, and now finally he was able to show the love he always wanted to give without being judged by the eyes he loved so much, that day it was exactly the one were Jotaro had those days of vacation, and Kakyoin was free, so it was kind of a special day, at least for Jotaro, neither of them was actually busy and that was the best of that, in the morning, they woke up together, just staring at each other's eyes as they softly smiled, Kakyoin was the one who did most of the cooking in the house since Jotaro was busy studying and resting from it too, so at least at the moment there wasn't any changes of it, Kakyoin stood up in his pajamas and walked down stairs without saying a thing, leaving Jotaro there who was so sleepy, he still sat on the bed and yawned before doing something. Now down stairs, the red haired was preparing everything to make breakfast, and since he was actually looking uo things to cook, he made pancakes and while he was doing this, Jotaro sneaked from behind and hugged his boyfriend, scaring him instantly since he was so concentrated he didn't even heard him walk down stairs.

– You scared me! –The smaller one raised his voice as he turned his neck a little bit to see him, only to turn again and focus on the food.–

– What are you making? –Jotaro asked as he looked down to see what his was doing, putting his chin on the other's shoulder.–

– P-Pancakes, I'm trying to make something new, I've only eaten cereal. – Kakyoin answered.–

– Hmm, smells really good. – Replied the taller one as he kept hugging the smaller one and snuggling on his shoulder.–

When they were ready, Jotaro walked away from him and helped him put the things on the table, but before doing so, he kissed softly his cheek before doing what he intended to do, but only that kiss left the red haired frozen for a few seconds before walking to put the things on the table almost calmly. Suddenly, the phone started ringing, so Jotaro went to pick up the call.

– Jotaro Kujo speaking. –He said putting the phone on his ear.–

Kakyoin looked at him while he put the last things on the table, trying to hear what it was all about.

– What? –
