After assembling a cult of fanatical followers, the Reverend Meeker must perform a horrible sacrifice to release the Blob he'd kept in the jar, allowing it to grow thus beginning "The Great Devouring", his vision of the end times. A military defense force, armed now with liquid nitrogen weapons after having learned of it's weakness to cold from the disastrous first encounter, assembles on Manhattan Island to stop the nearly mile wide Blob from crossing the Hudson River into the city. But a new, terrifying ability to reproduce called Binary Fission escalates the Blob threat into truly apocalyptic proportions as the fate of all life on the planet lies at stake! Can the Defense Force use their new cold arsenal to contain the threat before the Reverend Meeker's Great Devouring can come to pass?
