The water smoothed against my tail while Lauren looked like a scarred bumblebee. I chuckled a little bit, and went back to swimming around. I loved being a mermaid because I always felt free and wild when I am one. The crazy people in the world want to take that away from me.

My heart raced when my mom told me we have to tell Lauren about my secret.

"She'll be some mad at me mom. Lauren will never talk to me again!" I yelled as I jumped in the pool. I never knew what my mom did after that but I didn't think it was good.

"You can also turn into different sea animals." I told Lauren as she struggled to keep her balance.

"I think I'm getting the hang of this," she said as she jumped out of the water and back in.

"How do you turn to different animals?"

"You think about then say in your mind what you want to turn to."

"Wow that is cool!"

"Here let me show you." I dove into the water and looked at her.

My hair faded from my vision and I looked down. I was a dolphin. Lauren's eyes widened like I just dived into lava and survived. I rolled my eyes at her and turned back into a mermaid.

"There now you try." I said as she starred at me.

"I told you I could do it so you try now." I said as I slapped her on the side of her head. She frowned at me then turned into a orca whale.

Lauren barely fit into the pool. She jumped up into the air as she LED lights made her skin shine beautifully in the light.

The memory of orca whales made me happy. She came back into the water with a huge splash that made me go under water to see if she was okay. When my head went under all I saw was hands next to my shoulder.

"Tag your it." she yelled after she turned back into a mermaid. I smiled and followed her.

She swam up down side to side until I corned her and tagged her. Why was she so happy so quickly.

When I discovered I was half fish I was sad I couldn't go swimming anymore. Now when we go boating I hop in the water and swim right next to the boat. I watch as turtles mate, whales sing, and dolphins play. How can something so beautiful be so deadly. If someone finds me out they will never let me into the public again. All they will do to me is inject needles into my fish tail.

Lauren slowly pushed herself out of the clear water.

"Bella someone is here to see you!" my mom yelled as Lauren helped me out of the water. Who is it; and why are they here? I quickly dried my legs and my hair. My legs formed and I walked out of the room.

I heard a splash when I closed the door, so I think Lauren went back into the pool. Before I got the door to see who it was, I locked the door from the outside so only I could go back in. My hand touched the doorknob, it was cold. As I slowly opened the door I peeked each eye out to investigate.

"Um Luke I thought we were meeting next week?" I said as my face blushed three different shades of red.

"I know but there is something I really have to ask you something," he paused and got on one knee, "will you go out with me please." My heart pounded out of my chest.

"Sure," I said as he got up and hugged me. What was I thinking. Why do I have to be so nice. I have never said "no," to any boy, either they brake up with me or my friends say "no."

Luke looked at me in the eyes and smiled.

"How about tonight at 7. Movies?" Luke asked as his face was the same shade as mine.

"I'm sorry I already made plans with Lauren." I said as I felt so bad about letting him down. He sunk his head into his neck and walked out the door.

"Wait what is your number so we can stay in touch?" I yelled before he closed the door. He stopped on my front porch and whipped around as I starred at him he walked toward me with a big smile drawn across his face. I rolled my eyes and gave him my number.

This time he walked out the door almost like he was a new person. He went down the stairs and into his mom's car who has been waiting the whole time for Luke. I let out a loud gush of air she was holding in as she saw Luke leave.

"Bella are you still alive!" Lauren yelled as I ran to open the door to the door on the wall.

"Finally. I thought you would never come back in here." Lauren said, then dived into the water.

Her silky blue tail gave me the inspiration to jump in to. Sparkly bubbles flew around my legs. I moved it up and down, up and down. The shiny tail moved me through the water like I was the water. A huge smile through across my face as I stuck my head of the water. I looked at the water crystal clear.

Why does is this have to be me?

People think that if you're mermaid your awesome, you're cool, but not for me. If you're mermaid you can't go to a public swimming pool or take a bath without falling on your face. Sometimes I wish I could just be normal for once. My parents say it's the best thing that has happened to me, but I didn't believe them. I think it's a curse the beluga whale was trying to save me but it had to give away its power somehow and then give it to me. Brought me up to the surface so I can for you knowing that I'd have to suffer with this strange cursed somehow.

When I was little I couldn't go 2 swimming birthday parties. Some of my friends are very suspicious so me and my family have to move and I had to make a whole new set of friends it was the worst year of my life.

"Are you okay you look a little pale. Do you need me to get out and get you something to drink or eat?" Lauren said as she smashed her hands around trying to get my head wet.

I slowly shook my head no and went into the water. I got bored so I wanted to be a orca whale. The Blackness of their skin made me feel comfortable but the white symbolizing that they're still good on the inside. In the blink of an eye my hands work on my face was gone I have sharp teeth and the black and white panda like dolphin body. I switched my tail up and down up and down so I got to the edge of the swimming pool.

I stopped slowly lifteing my head out of the water as it took all my strength to lift it. Learn swim up behind me. This was going to be the year of a lifetime.
