Maven has captured Mare. He finally got what he so fiercely wanted. However, something feels wrong. What he wanted was for Mare to belong to him, for them to finally be together, yet that couldn’t be further away from reality. He has Mare, just not in the right way, and that makes him feel sick. It haunts him, drowning him with guilt.

However, even though she hates him, a part of her can’t let go of their past and she catches herself thinking more and more about the boy she thought he was. Part of her wishes things could be different between them.
